show your work

I’ve always been a believe in Austin Kleon’s idea that you should show your work. Don’t just share the finished product, share the process of making it. Document every step. Invite people into the process. Have conversations.

Therefore, that’s what I’m doing…

the beginning of outline for an award-winning screenplay that hasn’t been written yet

I just started writing a screenplay for a film that’s existed in my head for over a year now. I have a production plan mapped out in my head. I have ideas about how to develop the script, acquire funding, cast actors, and film in my hometown. Filmmaking, of course, is a collaborative process, which means calling in every favor from every person I’ve ever met. It’s going to take an army of people to manifest the thing I see in my head.

And I’m going to document this process in real time.

This post is an invitation. I’m beginning a journey and asking various friends and collaborators to join me. If you’re reading this blog, that includes you.

Follow along with what I’m posting and sharing and reading and watching and chewing on. All of it will inform what you’re about to see made in real time.

Watch carefully. What happens next is going to be important.
