One of the secrets no one ever tells you: we don’t ever get to know one another completely. You can’t give everything to your spouse, your romantic partner, your children, your parents, your friends. There are things inside you that were meant just for you. When you try to give them away to others, it cheapens you, makes you less than who you are.
Give those things as a gift to yourself.
